"Intimate" Lucius Acoustic Show. Circa Survive AGAIN!!

I first saw and was introduced to Lucius quite a few years ago when they opened for Tegan and Sara at the State Theatre, here, in Portland. I dug their interesting sound and dubbed them another weird, hipster New York City band. They put out a few records and developed a steady, faithful following. Their sound has developed along with their growing fan-base. They recently put out an album that's acoustic "reimagined" versions of a few of their older songs, plus some new ones. It's probably their best work to date and I excited to see that they were finally coming back to Portland, but I had originally missed my chance to catch this show as it sold out rather quickly, and unexpectedly they had a few tickets open up the day of the show, so I grabbed one ticket, thankfully, because it was an incredible show. The crowd was respectfully quiet through most of the show, but still energetic. Their set included quite a few covers and they were well done, to say the least.

---------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of weeks ago, i got to see Circa Survive, again. This was probably at least the 8th or 9th time I've seen them. They are absolutely one of my favorite bands of the 21st century and are definitely one of the best live bands around. The energy in the room from the band and the crowd is always something to be rivaled by anyone else. I was a bit disappointed that the show was at Aura (the new, extremely underwhelming venues in Portland). I wanted it to be a sold out show at a place like the State Theatre or Port City because as a band they deserve it. Regardless, they put on one hell of a show.

Foxing is a band I've seen 3x now as an opening band. Unfortunately, the singer was suffering from some voice-lose for their set in Portland, but the band more than made up for it and I couldn't really tell except for a few times during their songs. The singer did chug some straight honey after every few songs, too. This is a band that you definitely need to catch, especially if they're opening.
