Courtney Marie Andrews, a budding "new" artist....

Sometimes, I find artists through interesting avenues. I remember hearing Courtney Marie Andrews' name a few years ago, and I knew she joined Jimmy Eat World for one tour, supporting the album "Invented" which she sang and played keyboard on. Then, I rediscovered her through NPR's coverage of SXSW this year, because she was putting out a new album and touring in support of it. I listened to her again, then quickly decided to check out the show, down in Boston at the small bar/venue called Great Scott. It was only $12 and definitely worth it. Courtney Marie Andrews is one of these "new" country/folk artists that has something to say and with the powerful voice she possesses, you are forced to listen to her. Her live show was incredible and her band was tight.

Best Albums of 2020 (The Year that Almost Wasn't, if it Wasn't for Music Saving Us All)

 Well, well, well. We've come to the end of a very strange, long trip of a year. 2020. Who would have guessed that such a year would bring such incredible music, honestly. Artists and musicians in isolation found ways to impress us with their creativity and produced some of their best work to date. And it allowed me to find some amazing new artists and bands. I had a lot of time to sit or walk or hike with new music and found a way to appreciate it all. I've grown to appreciate country, of all genres, over the years, and I suppose that has a lot to do with my adoration of the one and only Taylor Swift (who began as a country artist only to emerge a few years ago into the most incredible pop star perhaps several generations has ever seen. Regardless, I've grown to appreciate solid, well-crafted country songs and I'm not ashamed of it.
