Taking Back Sunday AND Every Time I Die (together)
A couple of nights ago, I got to see Taking Back Sunday for what was probably the 7th or 8th time since 2003. I had bought pre-sale tickets to this show because I definitely did not want to miss them. And on the bill with them was Every Time I Die, whom I've seen 3 or 4 times as well- but seeing them together was going to be amazing. Diverse music in the same night is always great. Most shows have similar types or similar sounding bands playing together. Every Time I Die is metalcore, loud, fast, crazy. Taking Back Sunday, well, they are like the quintessential emo band that has somehow survived the years. I just saw both bands, separately, back in like October or November. Taking Back Sunday was celebrating the release of their new album "Tidal Wave" and played it in its entirety at the Paradise in Boston, a small club. And actually, last summer, they played with Dashboard Confessional and Saosin and The Early November here in Portland.
This show was incredible. Every Time I Die killed it (pun intended), amping up the crowd that seemed kind of stunned at first and didn't really know what to do with themselves. There were a handful of us in the crowd though that were familiar with them and loved it.

And then, Taking Back Sunday took the stage and the crowd went wild. Their set was filled with songs that covered their whole career, including a new cover of Green Day's "She" song, as well as my favorite song off "New Again"-- called "Everything Must Go."
