Regina Spektor Live in Portland. And a Boston bands Benefit show.

A couple weeks ago, I got to see Regina Spektor here in Portland, ME. This was the second time I saw her, the first time being about 3 or 4 years ago, I believe. She's made quite a mainstream/pop culture name for herself nowadays (as if she had not already with her unique style of piano and pop-anti-folk songwriting), thanks in large part to her theme song contribution to Netflix's show "Orange is the New Black" (yup, that's a Regina Spektor song). This time around, she was playing to a sold-out crowd, with no opening act, just her, and the only thing that got to me was the fact that she made the crowd wait an extra half hour past her scheduled time to come out on stage. But, once she started playing, all was forgiven. She mixed up her setlist with a variety of new songs and the oldies!

A couple days later, a Saturday night, I traveled down to Boston to catch an "early" show of local-Boston bands that had come together as a benefit for the group of 200 or so protestors at Trump's inauguration who'd been arrested and couldn't necessarily afford legal fees. The headliners were the Hotelier, which was the main reason my sister and I went; but, also, I've developed a great respect for another one of the Boston bands, Animal Flag, who were first on the bill. They have such an incredible live sound and having seen them open for another band recently, I definitely wanted to catch them again. Boston bands- Loone and Palehound (both of whom I'd seen before as well were on the bill as well). It was a great night, as each band played for about 40-45 minutes. And, for a good cause.

The Hotelier setlist:

Palehound:

Loone:

And, finally, Animal Flag:
