The Felice Brothers in Concert. Boston's own Caspian (in Concert, too)

Still back to November-
I got to see the Felice Brothers (for the third time in just one year, the previous shows included one supporting Conor Oberst, and then other was at a small Artspace in NH with Aubrie Sellers). This time around they were headlining at the Sinclair (one of my favorite venues in Boston). I love seeing these guys because it's such rootsy-folky music that just makes you feel like you're hanging out with all your friends in the woods or country at a barn and drinking and laughing, having a good time. The accordion player brings life to the songs just as much as the lead singer's voice, kind of reminiscent of early Bob Dylan.

Their opening act was the Spirit Family Reunion, who were equally awesome, as you'll be able to see from the Tiny Desk clip I attach. Check out both of these bands perhaps while you're sitting around drinking a beer or two and relaxing.

The Felice Brothers setlist, if I can recall, looked a bit like this:

And the Spirit Family Reunion:

A week later, I headed back down to Boston to see local, instrumental, heavy-alternative band Caspian who hail from Beverly, MA in the finale show of their fall tour. They were playing at the Royale, another great venue, especially for their atmospheric sound. These guys are just absolutely amazing live. I saw them a couple of years ago in Portland, as well. Their songs are long epic journeys for your ears, and for some reason, they always invoke images of sea and fishing, kind of in the same vein as "Moby Dick" for me.

The Appleseed Cast opened the show and were equally as impressive. They reminded me of Built to Spill with a little bit of Pavement and emo mixed in.
