Two Shows

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Maynard James Keenan's (Tool) other band, well, his solo side project, Puscifer, perform in Portland, at the Merrill Auditorium (an interesting, seated and rather upscale venue). I had just seen them in Boston at the Orpheum Theatre back in November on a three-day concert binge for me, but I knew I had to see them in Portland. They played a very similar set, with a few changes mixed in, and it was absolutely worth it.

This past week, I also got to see a band that had been on my radar for several years, but I never saw live- August Burns Red (a Christian metal band), who were incredible as they opened for one of my favorite live bands (who seemed less interested in playing a larger venue than perhaps they were used to)- Between the Buried and Me. August Burns Red was definitely the highlight of the show, as their energy was incredible and the crowd was really into them (perhaps because they had not come to play Maine, Portland in particular, in over a decade, which they happened to mention). I got to hang out with some buddies of mine as well, which is always great, since I tend to go to shows alone.
