My Top Albums of 2016

This is always so hard to compile and complete, but alas, I did it. Top _20_ Albums of 2016 1. Radiohead- A Moon Shaped Pool As a Radiohead fan stretching all the way back to their first album, Pablo Honey, and when they were deemed "one hit wonders" of the '90s, but quickly came out with album after album that just continuously disproved that theory- each album showcasing a new approach to music, in either how they wrote it, how they recorded it, how that packaged it, and even how they sold it- they have continued to impress me, and I can say THIS is the album I've been waiting for, ever since "Kid A" came out. The orchestral sound is just perfect throughout the album, the composition of the band's music and the orchestra that accompanies on most songs is just damn near perfect. It's a reflective album. Some Movies.

"TAU" starring: Maika Monroe, Ed Skrein, Gary Oldman written by: Noga Landau directed by: Federico D'Alessandro Netflix keeps doing. Churning out a bit of second-rate, B-movies for the sake of "original" programming, in an effort to keep attracting big name actors/actresses. Here, they've enticed Maika Monroe, who was absolutely incredible in the amazing horror film "It Follows" a couple years back. In this wannabe thriller with artificial intelligence and a sort of evil genius at the center of the horror. Julia (Monroe) is a grifter captured at the beginning of the movie and made prisoner to  someone  for  some  reason. It’s a bold start to the movie, feeling like the wordless, anxious climax of a different film, but it’s too dour in its execution, and we plainly aren’t given enough time to worry about Monroe’s character. Two Great Films, and more to Pass the Time

"We Need to Talk About Kevin" starring: Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, Ezra Miller, Jasper Newell, Rocky Duer, Ashley Gerasimovich, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Alex Manette, James Chen written and directed by: Lynne Ramsay Remember when The Who sang "The Kids are Alright"? Yea, this film proves that is not the case as it attempts to define nature versus nurture versus just plain evil (and are you simply born that way). This is a modern American (almost strictly American, by the way) horror story. One all too real in the wake of Columbine and all subsequent mass killings (at schools, specifically) since that awful day. We always struggle to understand why things like that happen and how they got this way, what drives someone to murder. This is the story of a boy-turned-teenager through the eyes of his mother, and her struggle with raising him and then answering for his crime. Swinton, as Eva, is flat-out amazing.
