"Last Stop: Calgary" I will only board this train With you on board If it promises to stop When I tell it to When I ring the bell Can we make a pit-stop At my house Where I left a change of clothes And you You left me for him How about a change of heart You know what they say "Love, love will tear us apart" But it was in loving you That I found who I was But it was in who I am That you found the problem Saying, I lacked the potential Of being marriage-material And you could never see yourself With the likes of me Or was it just That you couldn't see yourself with me For the long-term Now's the time For a mid-term abortion Of this relationship I want to buck the new trend And follow in your footsteps To the end To the end Of this long and winding road Or at least to the bend When you have tipped the scale And I bow my head To regret To repent All sins I committed in yo...

Twenty First Century Poetry

"Dead Upon Arrival" Someone call the ambulance Hope is dead In need of resuscitation No one's willing to apply It's a job so few can do Yet so many deny From the hospital bed We hear the call Of loved ones long forgotten Left to die, alone Gasping for one last breath To breathe in these tired lungs Take blood, mix oxygen The brain needs to receive So that the heart can once again beat And love One last time Even if it leads to breaking Ambulance! Ambulance! Come quick! This boy's dead Can you find a pulse? Let's restart it! His heart I'd rather die knowing loss Than die alone Grasping for straws in a hospital bed Where the CALL button never summons The nurse, when I need her Doctor! Doctor! Give me some news Can I return home? Would I even want to If the house I own is empty And no longer a home All possessions I owned Have been bought and resold Forever lost Never to return Like t...

"Neighborhoods Are Memories" I took a drive Through my old city The place where I grew up Saw buildings, once so alive With light and life, commerce Now they are barely left standing Vacant as the lots Fields by my old house In my old neighborhood The suburbs where I lived and grew Where we rode our bikes In safety, through each other's yards But no one has a backyard, anymore The houses have been packed in Tightly, like sardines in a tin can Crushed, like our once forgotten dreams No more driveways to play in As the two-car garages take up space You can't hear the playful laughter Of children as they are screaming Since more houses are being built Only the sound of saws, carpenters I want to erect a monument A statue, In place at the foot of the entrance To my neighborhood With a plaque that would read as follows" "To all the childhoods lost among the wreckage Of this built up infrastructure... Time

"The Information Cause a Break in the Line (of Communication)" Here we sit Upon a couch Meant to be for lovers Yet it works more precisely To separate the souls Torn apart By a vicious cockfight I was yours You were mine In much simpler of times Now I look upon your body So ethereal In its architecture That the gods themselves Must have sailed to each other Upon your creation's completion As if to know Rome wasn't built in a day Neither was your face With an obstacle such as The indent by the tip of your nose Or the slight extra length to one of your toes But it is your heart, your soul That lacks the proper infrastructure When you fight You fight with such biting words And harsher undertones As if to say, "I never loved you in the first place." Well, I never loved you, in that case See, I can be just as mean as you Fire begets fire Begets smoke, it rises But where is the mirror Whe...

You Know What Time It Is

"The First in a Long Line of Lovers Laboured and Lost" (Part of a project to use the words PUSH/FORTIFY) Sometimes our love feels like a barricade One of which I wish to push And pull As a way to get closer to The woman who shares my bed But won't dare Share her heart Why must love be such a barricade Like we are two conflicting countries Whose armies are left To fortify Conquer and divide Set the band in motion Because I'm coming in Marching Two by two by two by two Full speed ahead Not at half-mast You'll feel dead, instead When I wrap you up in bedsheets Conquered and divided Your lengthy legs As the precipice to my survival Only gonna whet my appetite And I will devour And drink you like a fine wine In the basement, in the cellar Put away and left to age Gracefully You, you are divine And here I am Hammer in hand Ready to break this barricade You built as a defense Against falling in love with th...

Poetry?

"Everybody Has There Something, I Only Have You" I lay my body down Each grain of sand That blankets my skin Is a memory of her Like the lines on your face Are momentos of the times In your life when you were the happiest Were they with me? Did I make you smile? If I had the choice I'd rather be the etch Of your pillow To which you embrace When you sleep So that I may then Leave my mark upon your body And be with you To never leave...you Then we could make new memories Of two souls met in one body And I'd swim The length of your warm body To know there's safety in your arms Safety upon release But I won't ever let you go Like the wrinkles in your skin When you grow old I grow cold- er- Knowing it's without you I'll die As the mockingbird sings its song A song of love A song of loss A song of you and me A song of heartache and pain A song of the cost A song of the untethered c...

"The Things We Carry, Carry Us Through" Why do I return To a place So rot with memories Happy as they may be In that moment Frozen in my mind As a time for you and I Now these singular moments Add up to dread Only a single man could define After holding you On the rocks After kissing you As the sun set After walking with you Our toes in the dry, hot sand After making love to you As only young lovers do Is it safe to say You have become The bane of my existence The reason I'm incapable of feeling Because of those memories I try to remember only the good times Or is that placing too much importance On who you were to me Who were you to me When in reality This fog has clouded my vision My path of least resistance When it comes to meeting a girl Who would far surpass The standards and measurements I held you up to I want the chance To get to know Another lover The way I knew you The way we knew each oth...
